Description

This is my half of a trade with *Archaeorac !

She gave me this in return:

:la:

The colors were her idea, I asked if she wanted stripes or random and she said either so this happened. I really love how it turned out! And yes, the colors changing was all my doing, this was not a variegated yarn! I love how he turned out.

I will be sad to part with him.

I take commissions, and octopuses like this would still be $15 + shipping (despite all the color changing). Saftey eyes are now an option as well! I think trades will be closed for a while so I can get some commissions done. Note me if you're interested in a trade or commission, and I'll see what I can do ;)

First, I love the colors. I may be biased because they are my high school colors, but they really pop out. I like how you used buttons for your amigurumi. It gives it a nice homemade feel yet it is still well made. Your stitches look nice and even, and I really admire your random yarn changes. I think I'd have a headache and then go out any buy variegated yarn lol. I even like how you chose to sew the buttons on with the orange yarn as opposed to blue. It's those little details that make "simple amigurumi" stand out. And there's nothing wrong with simple. You know I like making simple and cute amigurumi, too!

Now for the critique part (first one, please don't hate me lol ><).

Originality: I marked you down half a star for this because I've seen quite a few amigurumi octopi made with a ball and 8 tubes. Honestly, I think I'd make it this way, too, but I can't call it totally original. I didn't mark you off too much because of your bright color choices. You're really good at choosing colors!

Technique: I marked you down 1.5 stars because of the seams. To make your amigurumi more "seamless" try pinning the tubes down and bringing the needle through the ball and then diagonally up through the last stitches of the tubes. You can see what I'm attempting to explain here [link]

Impact: I marked it down just for the seams, but overall I love this!
